Tariq Azizuddin, Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan, went missing on Monday in Khyber Agency along with his driver and security guard while driving to the Torkham border town on his way to Kabul.
It was widely believed that he had been abducted in the area between Jamrud and Ali Masjid, the patch of mountainous tribal territory notorious for past kidnappings. However, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for abducting the ambassador. There was also no information that the kidnappers had contacted his family or any government official to convey ransom or other demands.
